You hear your alarm clock and grab your mobile phone. Upon hitting the snooze button, you noticed that it’s already December. Eleven months have gone by without you noticing because of your hectic schedule the whole year!
Aside from the Christmas holidays, December is a time for get-togethers and reunions with family and friends. Of course you want to look your best! You go ahead and check your makeup stash only to find out that most of them are already expired. Sometimes, you don’t feel like wearing them at all because they are heavy on the face.
Women tend to wear too much makeup sometimes because they think this will hide their imperfections. Little did they know that makeup is one of the culprits of skin problems such as acne, uneven skin tone, large pores and many others. Yikes! It would be really nice if your makeup will not only make you feel confident about yourself but also make your skin taken care of.
Jacqe Yuengtian-Gutierrez, co-founder of Happy Skin Cosmetics saw these challenges that Filipinas are facing. Happy Skin Cosmetics is the first makeup line that offers an entire range of skin-caring makeup. This local makeup brand was launched just October of last year. Jacqe together with Rissa Mananquil-Trillo are the brains behind this emerging local brand.
“It was especially created for women who want to look naturally beautiful, but want to make sure that their skin is also cared for. It’s for women who don’t want to compromise on beauty!” explained by Jacqe. “I’m a firm believer in good skincare and I don’t like compromising my skin because of the makeup that I use.” Jacqe added: “I’ve talked to a lot of women, and they’re scared to use makeup because they feel that it will harm their skin. So why not create a makeup line that actually cares for your skin, too?”
Jacqe worked with Unilever before and spearheaded developing global brands for them. Working for almost a decade in the corporate world of beauty and personal care industry, she finally ventured in creating her own makeup line that will cater specifically to her fellow Filipinas.
Soon, Jacqe partnered with Rissa Mananquil-Trillo, top runway & print model, newspaper beauty columnist, and former president of the Professional Models Association of the Philippines (PMAP). With expertise in different fields of the same industry, their partnership brought about the establishment of Happy Skin Cosmetics.
Rissa being a model herself shared, “I held the same standard I had for the products I endorsed as a model and recommended as a columnist; it was important that Happy Skin was something I genuinely believed in and will use.” She continued, “I’ve been modeling for more than a decade here and abroad and I have had every imaginable makeup brand on my face.”
“Many of them instantly prettify you, but the biggest beauty woe is going home with ruined skin. Truly good makeup should be your ally—not your enemy—in making you look and feel more beautiful,” she added. Happy Skin boasts skin-loving ingredients such as Japanese tea leaf, cherry blossom, hyaluronic acid, and argan oil.
Happy Skin offers liquid and powder foundations which they called Don’t Get Mad, Get Even; Second Skin Créme; Zit Zapper Second Skin Cream Foundation For Acne Prone & Sensitive Skin; Shut Up and Kiss Me lippie; Eye Need A Miracle concealer; Get Cheeky With Me blush; and Eye Am Here To Stay gel and felt liners. The witty names of the products made it even more interesting to try it out!
Happy Skin is currently available at Rustan’s Makati and Rustan’s Shangri-la, Beauty Bar, and select Plains & Prints boutiques. Oh no! You don’t have time to visit the nearest stores offering Happy Skin. Don’t fret because they have also launched their own online store, www.happyskincosmetics.com.
They know that having an online store is one essential part of a business venture. According to Jacqe, “We felt that having our own online store is the first step to achieve that dream. With the new Happy Skin online store, we get immediate feedback on our products and we see quickly what the bestsellers are.”
She added, “Since we are a home-grown brand, this gives us the leverage to extend current product ranges, develop new shades or launch new products much faster.” Having these information and putting it to good use, Happy Skin will surely create more products in the future that Filipinas will surely patronize.
Happy Skin would like to extend the overwhelming response they receive also thru their online store. Jacqe excitedly shares with us that they will offer more exclusive deals and even exclusive products to their loyal online shoppers. Better watch out for this ladies! Quoting Jacqe, “We’re also working on building a loyalty program where we will reward our regular shoppers with coupons, special gifts & exclusive invites to Happy Skin events.”
