Aug 19-20, 2014 (Manila) — The DCOM Summit 2014 was recently held at the SMX Convention Center, SM Aura, Taguig City last August 19-20 with the theme, “Future-Proof: The Road Ahead for E-Commerce in the Philippines.” The summit was organized by Digital Commerce Association of the Philippines, Inc. (DCOM) with support from its various member organization including Dragonpay Corporation. The COO/CTO of Dragonpay, Mr. Robertson ‘Dick’ Chiang, is concurrently the president of DCOM for 2014.
The participants of the summit are E-Commerce practitioners and enterprises who are interested in venturing into the online world. Several speakers from local and foreign companies shared their knowledge about the current state of E-Commerce in the Philippines and neighboring Asian countries including Smart Communications, Globe Telecoms, Zalora, LBC, Xend, GrabTaxi and Singapore Post.
The DCOM Summit tackled essential tools for the E-Commerce industry which includes logistics and payment gateways. Several of the speakers highlighted the challenge of accepting payments in the Philippines due to the very low credit card penetration (estimated at only 5%). It is this challenge that Dragonpay strives to solve through its various payment channels such as online banking, ATM, mobile and over-the-counter cash payments.
